Here at Ashbourne Heights, we’re blessed with a fantastic location in the Peak District, surrounded by beautiful countryside and idyllic destinations.
But, away from the rolling hills and picturesque villages, there’s also lots to see and do, including some fantastic family attractions.
Home to the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire, Chatsworth is located in the heart of the Peak District. It has been home to the Cavendish family for over 400 years.
Take some time exploring over 30 rooms, from the magnificent Painted Hall to the rather regal-looking State Rooms. This imposing property is also home to the Devonshire Collection, one of Europe’s most significant art collections – from works from the Old Masters to artefacts from ancient Egypt.
This grand property also plays host to a number of events throughout the year including horse trials, country fairs and the popular Christmas market as well as special events around schools holidays, including Easter – so there’s something for all the family to enjoy here.
As impressive as the house is, Chatsworth is also home to a 105-acre garden, which is equally captivating. Although some points of interest have been replaced to make way for new fashions, the garden retains many early features, including the Canal Pond, Cascade and 1st Duke’s Greenhouse.
There’s also a great offering of activities for kids, too. They’ll love visiting the working farmyard, where they can meet and learn about friendly animals or burn off some steam on a fun-packed adventure playground.
When you’ve done enough exploring to work up an appetite why not pop into the on-site café, which serves up a range freshly made sandwiches, cakes and a range of pasties.
Ashbourne Heights is perfectly located for you to explore all the region’s top attractions. Stay in our range of self-catering accommodation in the Peak District, including luxury holiday lodges, caravan holiday homes and unique glamping accommodation.
